The Sun- The king, The WarMonger, The life



This is a new project that i am doing at the moment solar owls, yes i know odd but im having fun there will be a owl for each planet or minor planet and the earth's moon. Each artwork will features myths, symbols etc based on the planet. This one being the sun features a few things

-the lioness is from egypt, the lioness was the daughter of ra and was a symbol of the sun

- Chrysanthemum's are a flower which is said to symbolise the sun Chrysanthemum's are from england during the victorian era where flowers were used to represent different feelings , the language of flowers. Red chrysanthemum's mean a proposition

-the 2 horse's are avak and alsvid who are from norse mythology who pulled sol's chariot

-the wings on the horse's are based on celtic folklore who called the sun "the sun healing in his wings" (also a horse belongs to the celtic sun god and the goddess epona)

-the diamond is (more western) used as the symbol of the sun

-the scarab if from egypt, the symbol of the scarab and the sun is well used

-and last but not least the chinese symbol is the symbol of the sun
